Hybrid Work Model

For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, Pune and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office at least one day a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.

Job Description

The Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Assent’s data operations by importing, analyzing, and migrating customer and operational data into the system. This position requires strong technical skills in data analysis, SQL, and SSIS, along with the ability to provide reporting and data support across departments. The Data Analyst contributes to key product functionality, client services, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Key Requirements & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SSIS packages to efficiently load client data into the database.
• Assist in data migration and conversion between client systems and Assent’s master database.
• Clean, restructure, and analyze client datasets using SQL, Excel, and SSIS to ensure accuracy and usability.
• Write complex queries and apply advanced Excel functions (e.g., Power Query, pivot tables, formulas) to troubleshoot and process data at scale.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand data requirements, communicate insights, and ensure data is accurate, usable, and supports decision-making.
• Act as a power user of Assent’s platform and internal tools (e.g., JIRA, Salesforce Service Cloud, MS Office, Google Suite) to support data operations and cross-team collaboration
• Be familiar with corporate security policies and follow the guidance set out by processes and procedures of Assent
• Take ownership of tasks and responsibilities, with flexibility to adapt to business needs over time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data analysis with advanced SQL development skills (procedural and transactional).
• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS.
• Experience with data migration, conversion, and ETL processes.
• Proficient in SQL and Excel, with experience writing complex queries and using advanced Excel functions such as Power Query and pivot tables. Python is an asset.
• Familiarity with data integration workflows, including APIs and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PTC) is considered an asset.
• Strong attention to detail in monitoring data accuracy, completeness, and formatting in production environments.
• Familiarity with Snowflake is an asset.
• Experience with various data formats (e.g., XML, CSV) and applications (e.g., CRM systems, public databases).
• Strong forward/reverse engineering and database refactoring skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
