Hybrid Work Model
At Assent, we proudly embrace a remote-first work model, valuing the flexibility and autonomy it provides our team. We also acknowledge the intangible benefits of occasional in-person workdays. For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, Pune and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office 1-3 days a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.
Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead (IC role) who can drive technical excellence, mentor teams, and
contribute to building scalable, high-performing applications. This role is ideal for someone passionate about
full-stack development and modern technologies, with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Key responsibilities include:
▸ Lead technical design and development for complex projects.
▸ Collaborate with architects and product managers to define technical roadmaps.
▸ Stay hands-on with coding, code reviews, and troubleshooting critical issues.
▸ Mentor and guide team members on best practices and emerging technologies.
▸ Ensure high-quality deliverables through robust architecture and clean code.
▸ Drive adoption of modern development practices, CI/CD, and cloud solutions.
Qualifications
▸ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical
experience).
▸ 8–14 years of experience in software development, with at least 2–3 years in a Tech Lead role.
▸ Strong ability to perform hands-on coding.
▸ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
▸ Experience in agile environments and modern development practices.
▸ Frontend: Strong experience with Angular (latest versions).
▸ Backend: Proficiency in C# for enterprise-grade applications.
▸ Database: Expertise in SQL and relational database design.
▸ Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and microservices, Oops &
▸ Solid Principles.
▸ Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.
