Job Description

Doing Thing is seeking a Director of Account Planning, a leadership and managerial role that sits within our Branded Partnerships organization and is pivotal for leading the Account Management team to drive excellent client service and revenue success. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic, solutions-oriented manager with experience partnering with agency holding companies, strong knowledge of the social media landscape, executing custom branded content, and always bringing a customer-first mindset. This role will oversee a team of account managers and collaborate with cross-functional teams across sales, operations, integrated marketing, creative, and finance.

As the Director, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of Brand Partnerships revenue by way of leading the team of Account Managers. You will be the liaison between Account Management & every other department at Doing Things. As liaison, you speak every stakeholders’ language, ultimately collaborating to help the Account Management team’s execution of branded programs. You will play a critical role in inter-departmental collaboration and building long-term, strong client relationships through the Account Management team. You are professional, polished and articulate, with superior organization and communication abilities.

To sum, the purpose of this position is to provide unwavering & strategic support to the team of Account Managers who execute Brand Partnerships’ revenue. You are both a line of defense & a strategic challenger, growing & supporting the team, advocating internally & externally to deliver efficient revenue through exceptional process, organization, record keeping and AM team growth.


Responsibilities
This role can be categorized into three buckets – leadership & management, client relationships/success, finance & operations.

Leadership & Management

  • Learn the historical context of DT to date, nurture the integrity of the company ethos, creative, and people within
  • Understand & facilitate the entire account management process, from pre to post sale
    • Player x coach style –
  • Lead Brand Partnerships’ Account Planning team of [currently 6] national Account Managers, across different time zones
  • Responsible for the total hiring, training & onboarding of all BP Account Managers
    • Experience in the following areas is a must – both from a personal & coaching others experience
      • RFP Deck Building
      • Media Planning
      • Kick Off Calls
      • Custom Content Production
      • Organic & Paid Social Analytics
      • Pacing & Delivery
      • Revenue Recognition
      • Recapping, Incremental & Upsell Conversations
  • Maintain & update all of Account Planning’s internal databases, documentation systems, templates, onboarding & training materials, etc.
  • You are the point person, expert for any / all questions from pre to post sale from any perspective – AM, Sales, Creative, Production, etc.
Client Relationships/Success
  • Assign teams in pre-sale for each Request For Proposal
  • Responsible for excellent client experiences, optimizing processes and materials to ensure the AM team is armoured with the most efficient tools to execute programs
  • Plugged into the sales world to help seller & client education, level setting, etc.
  • Understand and synthesize sales priorities in order to audit AM processes to ensure both sales & client satisfaction

Finance & Operations

  • Responsible for the efficient & clean delivery of Brand Partnerships’ revenue [via the Account Managers] through end of month revenue recognition processes
    • Liaison with the Finance department & answers any questions about revenue numbers across any program

This also means you work with the Sales team leads to advocate for Account Planning priorities. AP & Sales work hand in hand, but each is responsible for different sides of the business. We operate on a player/coach model to ensure you are plugged into the day to day of the team you’re managing.

Account Manager, Brand Partnerships – Job Description

Pre-Sale

  • Collaborate with sellers & creative team on the entire pre-sale process — including digesting & synthesizing RFPs, ultimately developing innovative & cohesive proposals leveraging DT ad products
    • Experience with audience analysis tools is a plus [Shareablee, Demographics Pro, etc.]
  • Brainstorm net new creative big ideas based on RFPs and be able to translate them into slides for clients
  • Build media plans in excel
    • Experience with media math is preferred
  • Build proposal decks, aggregating everyone’s thoughts from the brainstorm and developing a clear, compelling story as the DT solution

Post-Sale

  • Manage all post-sale client communication by establishing, growing, and maintaining strong relationships with client partners
  • Guide clients through clear campaign kick off calls and into creative production
  • You are extremely detail oriented, proactive, and strategic with your client and internal communication // understanding every step of the path so that everyone else can execute their job seamlessly
  • Responsible for coordinating all creative production – requesting new creative, relaying client feedback internally, and aggregating creative to send back to the client for review/approval
    • Experience in Slack & Monday.com is a plus
  • Organize all content delivery to the client, meticulously ensuring all creative components are greenlit by the client in order to go live by the flight start
  • Schedule all approved content
    • Experience in Sprout Social is a plus
  • Coordinate and manage campaign’s ad operations, successfully launching campaigns directly to social platforms
    • Experience in the backend insights of Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat is a plus
  • Continuously monitor campaign performance and pacing – providing clients with optimization recommendations
  • Set up paid programs in Meta Ads Manager
  • Coordinate & confirm outside creators for ad campaigns // handle all paperwork, delivery of approved content for them to launch, etc.
  • Translate performance to visuals/materials with relevant relative information enabling clients to understand partnership value vs. company and industry benchmarks
  • Turn learnings to actionable insights, acting as a consultative partner to our clients
  • Ultimately ensure the full delivery of media programs all the way through actualization / reconciliation
    • Experience in Boostr and with billing rev recognition is a plus
  • Keeping all internal documents and sheets up to date with your portfolio of program’s worth of clean, accurate reporting & information

Qualifications & Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent, empathetic, and solutions-oriented communication is a must -- both internally & externally
  • 4 years of managerial experience, leading a team of Account Managers in a media company
  • In addition to the above, ideally you also have 3 years managing campaigns yourself in a media company, agency, or similar industry
  • Your brain is both left and right – black/white & colored – you love math and creativity and are able to strategically interweave the two sides in between each other
  • You are process & organization-centric – those pillars trickle down to how you manage teams and release and maintain updates
