Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support the Finance team at Doing Things. This internship provides hands-on experience in accounting operations across multiple business lines including editorial content, branded partnerships, creator businesses, e-commerce, wholesale, and licensing.
This is a learning-focused role ideal for accounting students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in a fast-paced startup environment. You will work alongside experienced finance professionals and gain exposure to real-world accounting processes, systems, and cross-functional collaboration.
This internship offers meaningful work, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop foundational accounting skills while supporting a creative, high-growth digital media company. It will start immediately for the right candidate and will be compensated for $20 per hour up to 10 hours a week.
This position requires in person attendance at our NYC office once a week at minimum.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Support- Assist with processing vendor invoices in Bill.com
- Help set up new vendors and collect required tax forms (W-9s)
- Track invoice approvals and follow up with internal teams as needed
- Code expenses to appropriate general ledger accounts with guidance
- Review corporate credit card transactions and flag any coding or policy questions
- Help prepare and send customer invoices in QuickBooks Online
- Maintain payment tracking spreadsheets and update status regularly
- Assist with payment follow-up communications
- Match incoming payments to open invoices
- Support day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including transaction recording and account maintenance
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or recent graduate
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (formulas, pivot tables a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and ability to take direction
