This may be taboo, but I’m going to say it anyway. 🤐 I’m calling out content editors and managers: If you want to end a partnership with a freelancer, have the decency to tell them. It’s really that simple. Six different clients I worked with this year decided to end my contract and failed to notify me. ❌ After deactivated Slack accounts, ❌ receiving no new assignments for months, ❌ nor receiving feedback on my previous work, ❌ and revoked access to content management platforms, it was obvious they no longer wanted to work with me. And I completely understand — budgets get cut, priorities shift, that’s all fine and good. But not having the courtesy of letting me know? Unacceptable. I sent emails to editors and lead contacts which went unanswered. When I didn’t receive a response, I kept emailing them. And emailing them. Some eventually responded. Months later, I’m still waiting to hear back from others. If you think simply cutting off communication is okay, you’re wrong. I know this is common practice among freelancer-client relationships, it happens all the time. But it shouldn’t. It just shouldn’t. Please, can we all do a better job at treating one another in a professional and respectful way? 🙏🏽 #freelancewriter #contentwriter

Here’s the reality: Employees don’t want to: · Be subjected anymore to an antiquated 9-5:00 PM workday. · Waste time spent in mindless traffic. · Spend extra for the wear and tear on their cars. · Engage in office politics. · Deal with the office noise and distractions. · Incur increased expenses as gas, lunches, etc. · Neglect one's well-being. · Be micromanaged. Parents are dying to play games with their kids. It's just that most games are totally not kid appropriate (like Diablo - but I want to run dungeons with my kids!). And often, games for kids make most parents want to stab their eyes out (sorry Roblox and Minecraft). What the world needs is a game that is made for parents that's safe to play with their kids, or at least with kids in the room. Let's give a whole new meaning to "family game night." 📉 Experience is SO overrated. I honestly think it's a bunch of BS and vanity. I see so many early-stage founders recruiting for roles with requirements of 3+, 5+ years of experience. Sure, it's nice to know have some experience under your belt, but for early stage what REALLY matters is simple. You just need to have the energy to hustle, and a growth mindset to the point where you're fearless with failure. 💡 And the BEST people who fit that learning profile are the young and inexperienced. They're not bogged down by corporate baggage or internal practices. They chase after everything without ego and learn at scary rates. Our first 2 founding engineers were kids out of college. They've scaled immensely and brought insane impact. Same with most of our sales team. Hiring ambitious kids out of college and training them to the point where they're closing 200k revenue in 1 month after a quarter of learning has proven to me that experience is not a dealbreaker. 📈 Having a high Y-intercept is great, but what matters SO MUCH more is the slope. 🚀 🚀 If you think you have a high slope and want to surround yourself with a team of ambitious, hungry, and high-speed learners, join us.
