Software Engineer III (TraceLink, Inc. – Wilmington, MA):

Job Duties:

Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of microservices that interface with data at a large scale, as well as all related activities within the application development process.

Duties include:

• Develop software that takes best advantage of our cloud-based, fully-distributed architecture utilizing JavaScript and Java;
• Provide design input for software development efforts utilizing a thorough understanding of various technologies such as web applications, relational and NoSQL databases, information security and cloud-based services;
• Research and remain informed of new technologies and tools, and how such technologies could be applied at TraceLink;
• Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance by working with product management, architects, other product stakeholders, and team members
• Review and analyze current systems and processes, matched against user needs and business requirements to determine technical requirements;
• Work closely with our QA team to perform test planning, implementation and execution, plan automated strategies, and contribute towards quality assurance testing of web-based APIs using Java, Rest Assured, Karate and TestNG to ensure high quality software is delivered;
• Accurately estimate tasks, hit those estimates and provide regular status updates as part of our scrum-based Agile development process
• Mentor junior software engineers, and regularly conduct code review and knowledge share sessions for best practices used to help improve quality
• Analyze customer problems and troubleshoot issues across the entire stack: cloud infrastructure, third-party software, application security and network and create patches to resolve reported problems.

Position Requirements:

Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, plus 2 years of experience, which may be gained pre- or post-master’s degree, in any Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related position.

Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following:

• 2 years of software development experience utilizing JavaScript, Java or similar languages;
• 2 years of experience developing web-services and web-based APIs;
• 2 years of experience with software development best practices including version control, defect tracking, and unit testing;
• 1 year of experience building cloud-based applications on platforms including AWS;
• 1 year of experience utilizing microservices architecture, REST architecture, JSON, Docker based deployment, Dropwizard or similar framework;
• 1 year of experience in working with large data sets utilizing NoSQL or RDBMS databases;
• 1 year of experience in problem solving and debugging complex customer issues for web based apps.

Salary: $155,720 - $160,000/year.
