About Volition Capital
Volition Capital is a leading global growth equity firm focused on investing in founder-owned businesses in software, internet, tech-enabled services, and consumer sectors. We partner with entrepreneurs to help build enduring, capital-efficient businesses, often at the inflection point of breakout growth.
With over $1.7 billion in assets under management, our selective, high-conviction approach allows us to work closely with every company we invest in. Our portfolio includes category-defining leaders such as Creatio (no-code workflow automation), Connatix (video monetization for publishers), Chewy (pet e-commerce), Assent (supply chain sustainability), US Mobile (telecom innovation), and Securonix (cybersecurity and SIEM).

The Opportunity
This is a rare, greenfield role. As our first dedicated AI Specialist, you won't be inheriting someone else's playbook, you'll be writing one. You'll own Volition's internal AI strategy end-to-end: identifying opportunities to automate and accelerate how we work, building the tools and infrastructure to make it happen, and ensuring everything we build is done responsibly and in close collaboration with our compliance team.
You'll sit at the intersection of technology and investment operations, working closely with partners, analysts, and cross-functional teams to understand the nuances of how a growth equity firm runs, and then reimagining how AI can make it better. If you're energized by building from scratch, thrive in a collaborative environment, and care deeply about doing things the right way, this role was made for you.
What You'll Own
AI Product & Tool Development
Lead the design, build, and iteration of internal AI-powered tools that drive efficiency across deal sourcing, portfolio monitoring, research, and firm operations
Take ownership of and continue to develop Volition's existing suite of proprietary internal tools. Systems purpose-built for how we operate that represent a meaningful competitive advantage for the firm
Identify high-impact automation opportunities across the firm and translate them into working products, not just prototypes
Own the full product lifecycle: scoping, building, deploying, and continuously improving internal tools
Infrastructure & Deployment
Build and maintain the technical infrastructure supporting all internal AI initiatives, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure
Manage integrations across the firm's core platforms, including CRM and deal flow tools, data pipelines, and workflow systems
Establish best practices for version control, monitoring, and performance of deployed AI systems
Compliance & Responsible AI
Work hand-in-hand with our compliance team to understand regulatory requirements and firm-specific constraints
Ensure that all tools and systems are built with data privacy, security, and governance at the forefront
Develop internal frameworks and guidelines for the responsible use of AI across the firm
Stakeholder Partnership
Serve as the internal subject matter expert on AI — educating and enabling the broader team to leverage new tools effectively
Translate business needs from non-technical stakeholders into clear technical requirements
Stay ahead of the curve on emerging AI capabilities and proactively bring relevant opportunities to the team
What We're Looking For
We care more about what you've built and what you know than how many years you've been doing it. That said, the ideal candidate brings:
Demonstrated, hands-on expertise with large language models and AI Agentic APIs (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini). You've shipped real things using these tools, and you understand the nuances between enterprise deployments and raw API access
Experience building and deploying AI-powered applications or internal tools in a production environment
Proficiency with data pipelines and ETL processes — you know how to move, clean, and structure data to power intelligent systems
Hands-on experience with CRM platforms; familiarity with Creatio or similar low-code/no-code CRM systems is a strong plus. Creatio is also a Volition portfolio company, so you'll have a unique, close relationship with the product and its team
Comfort working across productivity and collaboration ecosystems, particularly Slack, SharePoint, and Notion
Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and how to architect secure, scalable systems
Strong Python skills; comfort with modern AI/ML frameworks and tooling
A natural communicator who can work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues
A genuine appreciation for the importance of compliance, data governance, and building things the right way in a regulated environment
Bonus if you have:
Prior experience in financial services, venture capital, or private equity
Familiarity with vector databases, RAG architectures, or agentic AI workflows
Experience with prompt engineering and fine-tuning for domain-specific applications
Knowledge of workflow automation tools
Experience building integrations across SharePoint and third-party platforms via APIs or automation layers
